Job Description

Under general direction this professional will:

Establish and implement the business’ global and regional strategy and supplier selection for specific categories.

Drive cost reductions initiatives down to the bottom line.

Manage and influence all levels of key stakeholders in Building Efficiency, Automotive Experience, Power Solutions, and Corporate business that are involved in sourcing or contracting for indirect categories.

Works across BU’s footprint to maximize spend leveraging across divisions for defined managed categories.

Implement and manage compliance for sourcing strategic initiatives, policies and standards related to the categories under management.

Drive to identifying savings opportunities to lower Category Total Cost of Ownership for manufacturing and offices operations.

Expands strategy and better practices across the divisions.


Principal Duties:

1. Directs and manages indirect category spend for indirect materials and services.  Negotiates prices with VP, Director, Manager level staff for sellers of large categories.

2. Leads and facilities cross-functional strategy formulation for related categories, identifies key milestones, and leads team to accomplish business objectives.

3. Manages execution of the region’s sourcing strategy for specific categories and implements and drives that strategy down to the purchasing professionals responsible for the actual purchases at BU/plant level and all key stakeholders in the categories under scope.

4. Establishes, with their directors and managers, annual cost reduction goals.  Teams with BU leadership, finance, engineering, and plant operations to determine how savings will be obtained.  Tracks projects to determine results of annual cost reduction goals.

5. Supports development and maintenance of region’s indirect categories strategy and supplier selection, contracting and performance evaluation.  Determines where and who within the global market we should purchase the category from and negotiates on an annual basis the rate at which it will be purchased.

6. Further jointly defines the current purchasing process and strategy for the specific managed categories leveraging.

7. Conducts ongoing audits of internal sourcing needs and external category options.  Maintains knowledge of business changes that could affect category purchase needs such as manufacturing changes and business goals.

8. Ensures all persons contracting for materials and services comply with JCI procurement global policies.

9. Deploys expansion/growth & change management programs for contracted categories.

10. Resolves escalation and finds resolution to supplier issues including contract compliance failures.

11. Continuously reviews and modifies supplier technical infrastructure to ensure increased customer satisfaction while lowering expenses.

12. Continuously monitors and identifies supplier risks for:  Business  Continuity/Disaster Recovery, IT /Systems, Subcontractors, Financial, Safety, Environmental

13. Overall role tracking, and measuring process management, including contractual controls and triggers and business reviews

14. Responsible for creating, deploying and managing supplier diversity initiatives and strategies as directed

15. Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:


A successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of significant accomplishments in an indirect spend integrated supply chain management position in the manufacturing industry

Also the following are required for the position as well:

A minimum 5-10 years experience in purchasing, during which the successful incumbent candidate will have demonstrated success in a cross regional, cross divisional role across the integrated indirect supply chain

Demonstrated knowledge on integrated procurement functions and sourcing strategy execution

Cross divisional knowledge of BU strategies

Knowledge of local countries lawful requirements for purchasing agreements

Exposure to global sourcing, experience working with high level stakeholders from different cultures

Previous experience managing multiple location purchasing

Supplier Relationship Management and Metrics

Excellent negotiation skills

A demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement

Proven track record to execute and deliver results

Strong business acumen

Ability to influence up, down and across the organization

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
